Luc Besson, 1985 (98 mins, Cert. 15)
Christopher Lambert and Isabelle Adjani star in this Luc Besson story
centered around the Paris Metro.
(Playhouse publicity)
A slightly surreal journey into the underground under the
underground. Christopher Lambert falls in with the folks who live
like rats in the cracks and forgotten places of the Paris Metro and
prey on the travellers but largely only come out after hours to
claim the deserted platforms of the system. Wonderfully evocative
images and a thriller sub-plot combine to make a mesmerising and
disturbingly believable picture of how an underclass operates and
relates to conventional society.
